Exceptional Learning

Tennessee Tech vlog’s (ELPhD) programme, with , prepares aspiring leaders to drive change in education. You also earn an MA or EdS degree as you move through he ELPhD programme.

“The programme taught me that education is about building spaces where people from all backgrounds can grow and feel included,” says , a graduate and current Coordinator of Intercultural Affairs.

For Okot, the focus on collaborative research and practical application was key. “Two projects stand out: evaluating the WOW Festival at TTU, where I produced a report on its impact, and designing a tourism brand for the nearby city of Monterey,” he says.

“These experiences enhanced my research and presentation skills and gave me hands-on experience in data analysis and teamwork — skills that have been invaluable to my career,” he says.

The support from professors was crucial to Vincent’s success too. “When I struggled with my dissertation’s data analysis, they provided regular feedback and challenged me to think critically, helping me find innovative solutions,” he says.

School Psychology

Tennessee Tech offers -accredited and school psychology programmes that prepare you for careers in education and mental health. You’ll assess psychoeducational needs, understand neurodevelopmental differences, and work with educators and parents to help children overcome personal, social, and academic challenges.

Samantha Farley, a graduate and current ELPhD student, chose Tennessee Tech because of its supportive learning environment. “The small student-to-teacher ratio and positive feedback from past students, especially about mentoring, drew me in,” she says. With her love of psychology and sociology, and Tech’s stellar programs, it was an easy choice.

One example was Dr. Jann Cupp. “He shared real-life experiences and met with me often, especially during my thesis work, ensuring I was well-prepared for my defence,” says Farley. “Additionally, the cohort connections I made were essential. Networking and learning with people with similar plans made the program enjoyable and we had natural study and decompression groups as we moved through our program milestones.”

Now a licensed school psychologist, Farley works with Putnam County School System students. She provides psychoeducational assessments, works with teachers and administrators, and plans interventions to support student success.

Lifetime Wellness

If you’re passionate about health and fitness, the programme is for you. It teaches you to assess fitness levels and design exercise plans that promote long-term health through wellness rather than rehabilitation.

Tony Phillips, a graduate and current ELPhD student, describes his experience as “awesome.” “The flexibility allowed me to balance my business and studies, meet deadlines, and connect with peers who share my passion,” he says.

He values the programme’s hands-on approach just as much. “The project-based assignments and technological focus helped me apply my learning to my career,” he says. “I gained deeper insights into exercise science research and now use that knowledge as a Health and Fitness educator.”

Phillips praises his instructors as well. “They were exceptional, offering clear communication and prompt responses. I highly recommend this programme to anyone wanting to lead in Exercise Science,” he says.

Learning Design & Technology

Technology is transforming how we learn, teach, and work. With education, government, and business all leveraging emerging tools to improve outcomes, understanding how learning sciences and technology work together is essential.

Tennessee Tech’s 100% online (LDT) prepares you to meet this demand. Whether you’re a working professional or looking to transition to a new career, you’ll learn to combine advanced technology skills with design principles to create curriculum and content across education, government, and private corporations.

“The LDT programme, with its detailed learning outcomes and practical application of content, has produced career-ready graduates who excel on the job. The software and design principles are not only foundational but also incorporate forward-thinking technologies across the programme,” says Jeremy Wendt, Chair of the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Examples include Articulate 360 Storyline, Rise, Python programming, and other learning analytics needed in today’s learning environments.
